The Electronic Correction Letter (ECL) is a request by the Custom Broker to the Saudi Customs Department to amend information in the electronic declaration which has been previously filed. Upon acceptance of the ECL, the information will be automatically amended and a notification will be sent to the Custom Broker.

Important: An ECL can be created for those declaration document(s) with status other than Draft, Sent, ECL Sent, ECL Pending and Fully Released. |
There are four types of ECL that can be created using the SANAM application. They are:
1. ECL Type 1 – In this type of ECL, Custom Broker informs the Shipping agent to make changes to the corresponding electronic manifest document or Delivery Order document.
2. ECL Type 2 – The Custom Broker can add, remove and change the delivery Order attached to the declaration document. At the same time Customs Brokers can also make changes to the declaration document.
3. ECL Type 3 – For type 3 ECL, the Custom Broker can make changes only to the declaration document
4. ECL Type 4 – This type of ECL is combination of type 1 and 2, where Custom Broker can request for change in manifest and change the declaration and delivery order documents that is attached to the declaration.
